Ginseng root grading is a key activity prior to the ginseng being presented in the retail enviroment. The grading process is primarily based on root shape, external skin colour and surface texture. Roots having more wildness and/or natural attributes are always graded as having superior quality. The root grading of North American ginseng is based upon domestic and internaitonal demand and consumer preference in different countries and regions.
